Utilizing Ask-a-Lawyer

by David L. Mann, Esq.

About Ask-a-Lawyer

The Clark County Family Self Help Center hosts an "Ask-a-Lawyer" event that provides free fifteen minute consultations with an attorney. The "Ask-a-Lawyer" program is aimed at self-represented parties, and is made possible through the volunteer service of local attorneys.

How to Get a Consultation

The "Ask-a-Lawyer" program runs every Thursday, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, but an appointment is necessary. Be sure to call (702) 386-1070, ext. 155 to sign up before heading down. Once you are signed up, come down to the Family courthouse at Pecos & Bonanza on your day.

What Should You Bring?

You should bring any documents that have been served to you, and a list of objectives.

What Should You Ask?

Ask-a-Lawyer consultations are limited to fifteen minutes with the attorney. To get the most out of your consultation, it is best to be prepared beforehand with specific questions.

My Experience With Ask-a-Lawyer

The Ask-a-Lawyer program has allowed me to help serve a fundamental need in the community. I don't believe that the law should be confusing to someone, simply because of their personal circumstances. It feels great to point people in the right direction during some difficult times in their lives. I'm glad a program like Ask-a-Lawyer exists, and I appreciate the opportunity I am given to assist in their work.
