Enforcing Child Support in Nevada

How Does Nevada Enforce a Child Support Order?

Nevada can enforce child support by the court or by the Family Support Division of the Office of the District Attorney.

The court can enforce a child support order like it can with any other order of the court; if the order is not obeyed that person can be held in contempt.

What can the District Attorney’s Office do to Enforce the Child Support Order?

If you have an open case with the Family Support Division of the District Attorney’s Office, they can enforce a child support order by withholding income from the non-custodial parent’s employee paychecks, unemployment, Social Security, Worker’s Comp, and Military Support. They can also suspend the non-custodial parent’s driver’s license. These measures are done at the discretion of the case workers.

What is an IRS Intercept?

An IRS Intercept is when the funds from the non-custodial parent’s tax return are siezed and paid towards the child support arrears.
