Child Custody in Nevada
What is Child Custody?
There are two types of child custody: Legal and Physical. Legal child custody refers to the legal rights to the child such as the right to get medical records. Physical child custody refers to who the child physically spends their time with. Primary physical child custody means the child spends 60% or more of their time with the primary physical custodian. Joint physical child custody means the child spends 40% or more of the time with a joint physical custodian.
How Does the Judge make a Child Custody Decision?
The Judge is supposed to use the “best interests” in determining child custody. This can mean different things to different Judges – that is why an experienced attorney is important in child custody cases.
